Not every bird will fit into your lifestyle. Our adoption counselors will ask you many questions to determine which bird will do well in your home and which will not. This way we can be sure to set everyone up for success … and love for its lifetime!
All adoptions include:
– Bird and all behavior/lifestyle information from previous owner and foster home
– Suitable cage in good condition
– 1 pound of food
– Comfort items
– Vet care if indicated
– Lifetime support
– Calgary adopters get a 1 year membership to the Calgary Parrot Club
– Lethbridge adopters get a 1 year membership to the Lethbridge Parrot Club

Before we schedule any meet-and-greets, we will ask that you complete an adoption application FIRST… which includes:
- Information about the bird you may be interested in adopting.
- Questions about your past pet experiences and expectations for caring for any parrot.
- Approval to have the type of pet you are interested in adopting from landlord or rental agencies if you rent or lease your home, condo or apartment. This includes HOA approvals as well.
- A virtual home visit to assist/ensure that your home is indeed set up to bring a bird home.
- Please note that birds are in foster homes across Southern Alberta and you must be willing to drive to the foster home location to meet the bird and complete adoption.
- If you do not receive a response to your application within a week, please send us an email to check that it was sent. adopt@gretasroost.ca
